About the Artist

I am an Irish artist working primarily in gouache and mixed media, with a background in fine art. My practice centres on wildlife and natural forms, approached through a balance of precision, atmosphere, story telling and inspired often by Irish folklore.

I graduated with an honours degree in Fine Art from GMIT (ATU) over twenty years ago, but my path since then hasn’t been a straight one. I’ve worked in a range of different roles, often finding ways to use creativity within them, even when it wasn’t the focus of the job.

All the while, I kept painting and drawing in the background. It was always there, but I wasn’t ready to share it more widely.

More recently, discovering that I am neurodivergent helped me understand my way of seeing and working more clearly. It gave me the confidence to take my art seriously and allow it to move from something private into something I could put out into the world.

My work now feels like it’s in the right place, something that’s grown over time, shaped by experience, and finally able to take the lead.

Artist Statement

My work explores the tension between observation and atmosphere, drawing from the quiet complexity of woodland environments. Through layered gouache and mixed media, I focus on moments of stillness, where light, texture, and form converge to reveal something both familiar and elusive.

Rooted in the Irish landscape and inspired by folklore, the subjects often carry a subtle narrative presence. Animals, plants, and natural forms are treated not only as studies, but as capsules of memory, instinct, and place. By isolating these elements within carefully constructed compositions, the work invites a slower engagement, that moves beyond surface detail toward a more contemplative experience.

Each piece is developed through a process of layering and building depth, texture, and light to create a sense of presence within the work. Alongside original paintings, I produce a limited number of archival giclée prints, allowing selected works to exist in multiple forms while maintaining the integrity and value of the originals…… there’s no turning back now, So I hope to continue sharing my passion with those who wish to see it!
